Veterans rated 100% disabled who paid fees for these plates may be owed a refund of those fees and taxes.
Eligibility and administrator approval apply. Payment is not guaranteed.
Could this apply to you?
Bought an Ohio Specialty Military License Plate · Oct 2019-present
- Did you buy a Specialty Military License Plate at an Ohio Deputy Registrar's office on or after October 17, 2019?
- Did the VA rate your service-connected disability at 100% when you bought the plate?
- Have you not already received a refund from BMV for that plate purchase?
- Do you have a VA letter showing your 100% rating and the date it took effect?
What you’ll need
You need a signed Declaration of Eligibility and a copy of your VA letter showing a 100% service-connected disability rating and the date it took effect. The rating must have been in effect when you bought the plate. The online form asks for the Class Member ID from your notice. If you have no notice, you can mail both documents to the administrator, who must receive them by December 2, 2026.
Your next step
We check that you bought the plate after October 17, 2019, held a 100% VA rating at that time, and have a VA letter to upload.
